Tutor: Barbara Driscoll
Barbara is an experienced Circle Dance teacher and choreographer from the south of England who has led dance holidays and taught workshops all over the world. She has a passion for dance and loves sharing all the different styles and rhythms found in Circle Dance. She is also known to be an excellent and enabling teacher.
Barbara has brought many groups to La Maison Anglaise in Taroudant. Every time it is a magical experience and here are new sights to explore with the wonderful Moroccan staff. The feedback shows that everyone has had an amazing time and a totally unique holiday. The highlight for many is the visit to the village in the High Atlas Mountains seeing how the local people live and work – an opportunity you would not normally have as a tourist. To be made feel so welcome everywhere and experience such hospitality and fantastic traditional food is also a great treat.
She always shares a variety of dances, which fit with the sights and activities experienced during the day.
She has also choreographed dances especially for this holiday to make the dancing as authentic as possible. Dancing at the Bedouin camp in the desert under billions of stars is an awesome experience and something you all should do once in a lifetime.

“It was indeed a fascinating experience, a real insight into Moroccan life and a holiday like no other I have ever had. From the hammam to Dounia’s village tour we were so privileged to experience Moroccan daily life. The treks showed us the geology and flora and fauna with Said as such a knowledgeable guide. It was also very special to visit the various projects and see them for ourselves at first hand (I’ll not forget the women breaking argan nuts); and Nordine guided us safely through the souk. What an exceptional group of staff at
Maison Anglaise! It was quite extraordinarily rich and I feel as if I’m still living off it now (well I am literally too, trying out Fatima and Latifa’s recipes). At the end of every day you inspired us to have the energy to dance! Magic indeed, yours as well as Morocco’s. Thank you both so much for your care and kindness and for facilitating such an amazing and memorable holiday.”
“Throughout our stay we were well looked after by friendly and knowledgeable staff. The day trips and other experiences that were available to us helped to take it beyond a ‘holiday’ to getting a better feel for the place and its people. The various projects that we visited and helped to support by
making purchases also made it feel that we were contributing in a small way to the sustainability of these enterprises. The food was plentiful and very tasty but didn’t leave you feeling heavy, which is just as well as we were dancing in the evenings! Barbara’s dances were carefully chosen to reflect the area we were in and the places that we’d visited. They were a lovely way to bring together the experiences and over the week we became familiar with them. Now of course they bring back lots of lovely memories.”
