Tutor: Donna Maria Taylor
Donna is a mixed media artist working across a wide range of mediums. She has worked in theatre design & production for many years (as a designer, scenic artist and prop / costume maker) and this line of work has very much given her a multi-disciplinary approach to her art. Recent companies that she has worked with in this field include York Theatre Royal, Leeds Playhouse, Oxford Playhouse and Shakespeare’s Rose Theatre.
Alongside her theatre work, she has also taught adults part-time for over 30 years. Qualified with a B.A (Hons) in Design, a Post Graduate Diploma in Theatre Design and a PGCE in Post Compulsory Education & Training she regularly teaches courses and workshops in and around the City of York where she is based. She also exhibits and sells her work through York Open Studios, North Yorkshire Open Studios and various other events and exhibitions throughout the year.
She led her first art holiday abroad to Spain in 2017 and her first group trip to Taroudant was in March 2019. At this point she stayed at the original guesthouse as La Maison Anglaise ECOLODGE was still a ‘work in progress’. She has now become a regular tutor here and this trip is one of the highlights of her year as she enjoys returning each time with new participants so they too can share in her enthusiasm for the warmth of the local people, the diverse landscape and the wealth of visual information that is perfect for inspiring artwork.
