Tutor: Amanda Stone
Amanda is currently working as a professional artist running two open studios a year and have exhibited in Llandeilo and Scotland. Using a wide variety of mixed media she aims to create work with energy, vibrancy and to bring the page “alive”.
Expressive drawing is an activity that provides multiple benefits including self discovery, self soothing and self expression. It is a powerful tool when seeking connection, with ourselves and the world around us. Focussing on process and play rather than results, and using simple drawing implements, we will explore line and tone with the aim of noticing what we, ourselves, like.
Amanda says that “since studying fine art at Carmarthenshire Art College for 2 years as a mature student 20 years ago, I have used creativity as a vehicle for learning, development, expression and processing with myself, other adults and children.”
She has worked in a voluntary capacity with Forest School, Llandeilo Literature Festival, St Teilo’s Sunday School and currently co-run an “Art Practice” class in her local community. In April 2024 she ran an illustrated story workshop for Llandeilo Literature Festival in the local school and from September 2024 she will be co-organising a Saturday morning children’s drop in art session.
