Tutor: Claire Anstee

Claire Anstee is a vocal musician based in Devon with 18 years’ experience leading singing workshops with adults and young people in the South West. She currently directs two community choirs; Sandford Sings in Devon and A Company of Voices in Taunton (on Zoom at the moment) and until lockdown has been director of the Wellbeing choir at St Lukes College, Exeter for staff.
Claire has also loved working with her choirs to join the biennial Sing For Water charity event held on the harbourside in Bristol in July. This is a national event held at various outdoor venues around the country to raise money for WaterAid. She also offers one to one singing lessons for adults and young people and leads singing walks and group singing at celebratory events.
She also has a passion for organising and leading singing holidays and has previously led one in the Alps, Italy, Greece and two holidays in at La Maison Anglaise, in Taroudant Morocco (one time co-leading with the wonderful Su Hart).
She has an energetic and inclusive approach to singing and vocal exploration. She is a sensitive facilitator and her style is relaxed, affirming and fun. Claire has a particular passion for African, Eastern European and Jazz harmonies.
Claire has a real zest for life which she brings to each singing session. Her gift for ‘making singing fun’ is beyond doubt!
As a professional singer Claire has performed with a local reggae/ funk band Dubterranea, also with Devon based jazz outfit, Solid Ground and has more recently been enjoying singing and playing penny whistle for a local scratch Ceilidh band.
A holiday with Claire will definitely put rhythm in your toes and a spring in your step.
