Tutor: Jahanara Laura Mangus

Jahanara Laura Mangus is a guide, certified dance leader, teacher and Sheikha in the Sufi Ruhaniat International (a Universal Western Sufi Order). An artist in multiple mediums, she is a storyteller, instrument maker, metal smith, fiber artist, writer and an international recording artist whose music has appeared in the Oscar winning film, Argo, as well as Son of Aram.
Drawn to the Aramaic language and the healing power of sound, Jahanara has brought to life many teachings, chants and dances. She has just completed writing her much-awaited book, “Becoming Honey: Embodying the Grace and Intimacy of the Aramaic Hail Mary.” This book is a love letter to the Holy Mother, supporting the cultivation of spiritual depth, embodiment and intimacy with the Divine Feminine.
Jahanara is a dedicated student of Bolad’s Kitchen; Martin Prechtel’s International School of Forgotten things, endangered excellent knowledges and hands-on village-style teaching. Passionate about activating the wisdom of the hands and voice through the pursuit of beauty-making, eloquence and ancient ancestral skills, Jahanara’s invitation encourages an intimate touching of life… opening paths toward the revealing of our deepest natures, our most intimate and story-filled connections to the earth.
Through music, creativity, and prayer she serves as a midwife, helping people awaken to their souls hidden potential, singing into life the note of their true being.
Jahanara is a mother, daughter, sister, partner and 3rd generation Colorado native living in Boulder.
